Introduction of Android

Android is the mobile operating system and Android is a S/W bunch comprising not only an operating system but also a middleware and key applications. Android Inc was founded by Andy Rubin, Rich miner, Nick sears and Chris White in Palo Alto of California, U.S. in 2003. In 2005 Android was acquired by Google. 

Android Features

Android is a very powerful OS competing with Apple and supports great features. Some of them are given below:

1. Beautiful UI - Android Operating System basic screen provides a beautiful & intuitive UI.

2. Connectivity - GSM/EDGE, EV-DO, CDMA, IDEN, UMTS, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, NFC, LTE, and WiMAX.

3. Storage - SQLite (a lightweight relational database) is used for data storage purposes.

Version History Of Android :
  
The version history of the Android mobile OS began with the release of the Android alpha in November 2007. The first commercial version “Android 1.0” was released in September 2008. Android is continually developed by Google and the Open Handset Alliance and has seen a number of updates to its base operating system since the initial release. All release are given below:

1. Android version (1.0 ) was released in 23 September 2008.
2. Android version (1.1) was released in 9 February 2009.
3. Android version (1.5) “Cupcake” was releases in 27 April 2009.
4. Android version (1.6) “Donut” was released in 15 September 2009.
5. Android version (2.0 – 2.1) “Eclair” was released in 26 October 2009.
6. Android version (2.2 – 2.2.3) “Froyo” was released in 20 May 2010.
7. Android version (2.3 – 2.3.7) “Gingerbread” was released in 6 December 2010.
8. Android version (3.0 – 3.2.6) “Honeycomb” was released in 22 February 2011.
9. Android version (4.0 – 4.0.4) “Ice Cream Sandwich” was released in 18 October 2011.
10. Android version (4.1 – 4.3.1) “Jelly Bean” was released in 9 July 2012.
11. Android version (4.4 – 4.4.4) “KitKat” was released in 31 October 2013.
12. Android version (5.0 – 5.1.1) “Lollipop” was released in 12 November 2014.
13. Android version (6.0 – 6.0.1) “Marshmallow” was released in 5 October 2015.
14. Android version (7.0 ) “Nougat” was released in 22 August 2016.

1. Multitasking – Android is a multitasking operation system. Android phones can run many applications together, it means you can use whatsapp, facebook, skype etc. while listened to your songs.
2. Ease of Notification – Any kind of SMS, Emails, latest articles from an RSS Reader and there will always be a notification on the Android home screen, You never miss the LED indicator is blinking, so you will never miss a single notification of Emails, SMS, or even a misscall .
